Japan Petroleum Energy Center (JPEC)

Japan’s national energy policies are undergoing a fundamental review with the “2050 Carbon Neutrality Declaration,” and decarbonization is being promoted in all sectors that use fossil fuels, including petroleum. On the other hand, the supply of energy is becoming increasingly uncertain due to factors such as global energy shortages caused by war and climate change.

In this way, the energy industry, including the petroleum industry, is facing a difficult business environment and is being asked to conduct long-term, high-level R&D and technological development in order to maintain a stable energy supply and, at the same time, achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Under these circumstances, JPEC takes on the challenges of innovative technological development toward these goals as a platform for technological development in the field of petroleum energy resources and comprehensively promotes survey projects and the like that support the foundation of such development.
